Hey Everyone,


This patch we’ve added a major new weapon/tool! You’ll find it hidden in one of the caves.


We’ve also added new loading screens, and the first pass of localization. This should be considered experimental for now, as it only contains french language and is not yet complete.


For multiplayer – this patch adds a bunch of new clothing variations. An open hood, new shirts, a new jacket variation and new toques to randomly add variation to the different players.


You can now run dedicated servers without needing the steam client, a guide for this can be found at:  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=907906289  We also fixed some additional issues with dedicated servers, and improved how saving works in larger games. You’ll need to restart your servers with the latest version to be compatible with this patch release.

  • Added first pass of translation system. This currently includes french language only. It is possible to copy translation files and replace the text values to create new translations – however more official translations will be coming in upcoming patch releases.

V0.59b hotfix

Hey Everyone,


Here’s a small hotfix, addressing some issues with dedicated servers and also fixing an issue with some furniture and buildings disappearing when saving/loading. The fix for vanishing structures isn’t retroactive, but will stop it occurring if you rebuild those items.


If you have a dedicated server up currently, it will be necessary to update both the dedicated server tool and your game build to the latest and restart the server.



  • Fixed a bug where some structures would vanish on loading games
  • DS – Added a version check to servers. This will inform players if the dedicated server they are attempting to join is from a different release than the current build they are using. Players who see this message should make sure their game is up to date, or alternatively try a different server as server may not be up to date
  • DS – Connecting to a dedicated server now shows a client connecting message during the initial stages
  • DS – When attempting to connect to a server that is not configured correctly, players will now receive an error message and be returned to title screen
  • DS – Join server button on dedicated server has been renamed from ‘new’ to ‘join’
  • DS – Fixed basic fires not lightable by clients after loading into games
  • DS – Prevented dedicated server from saving quality presets
  • DS – Player list in game now shows amount of players in game

V0.59 – dedicated server update

Hey Everyone,


The dedicated server tool should now be visible from the tools menu in steam. For instructions on how to set up a dedicated server, there is a guide at: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=907906289


For your launched dedicated server to work,  a valid configuration is mandatory, default setup will not work.


We are currently working through lots of issues with dedicated servers and so still recommend most players continue to play regular P2P multiplayer whilst the issues are ironed out. In particular clients may experience black screens when attempting to join servers that are not correctly configured and player counts are not currently available.

V0.59 Update

Hey everyone,


This is a small patch release adding support for players to create their own dedicated servers. We’ve set the dedicated server tool to release at 6pm PDT, however the patch of the main game to work with the tool should be released now.


As this is a first pass, it should be considered highly experimental. For the majority of players we recommend continuing to play the game in peer 2 peer mode whilst the final issues with dedicated server functionality are ironed out.

Hey Everyone,


This patch continues the icon re-work introduced a few patches ago. Building construction icons have now been replaced with 3d versions that appear at location you enter a structures trigger. These changes also include clearer icons for rotating structures, better looking custom building icons and more. Stealth icon was also re-worked, now the eye will appear either unfilled or filled when you are visible/out in the open. We also adjusted stealth values, being in a bush should now make you more hidden than before and being in the open with a light source out will make you more visible. Enemy a.i. Has also been modified to now see your flashlight at night.


For cave’s we’ve added new drip particle effects, there are also new rain particles using a refractive shader and a few other missing particle effects have been added


The placeholder boar model has been replaced with a newly made model/texture! We also added some new multiplayer hair variations in. Along with this we fixed a bunch of player, multiplayer and enemy bugs for the full list view:


We planned to include dedicated server support this patch, but had some last minute issues. We have set next patch to be much shorter than our usual 2 week cycle and plan to release a first pass of dedicated server support then.

Hey everyone,


For this patch we’ve re-worked the UI interface for all fires, gardens and item holders. You can now cycle through these by pressing R and see the items that are coming up next. This change includes new pickup icons for most of the items in the game.


For home icons, we’ve added the ability to change their color, and also the ability to turn each off individually. If you have a lot of buildings with lots of shelters or beds built you can now toggle which display an icon and what color they show.


For multiplayer characters, we’ve added a new cloth blood shader, which allows blood to visibly seep through extra worn clothing such as jackets or the suit. Random selection of player characters has been altered to ensure players see more variety in types when respawning, and a new hair shader has been added to one of the multiplayer character types, along with new hair models and textures.


We improved the enemy ai around player built structures.  They can now spot you through windows, and if they see you run inside a structure they will more often attempt to break down the door to get to you.


For tree cutting, we matched all cut models to the actual tree, so instead of seeing cut sections appear separate from the main tree model, it should now look mostly seamless.


We did some audio polish, adding in some missing sounds for crows, added a new skin animal sound effect, and balanced lots of the audio in different parts of the world.


There are some new particles added for cave waterfalls, and also for underwater particular matter. Along with this we improved the look of some of the particles we introduced last patch and also added new snow dust when you hit a plant in the snowy area.
